You may have noticed the anarchist vibe inside the spartan sub-level store at 17 Essex Street. A podium sits front and center, flanked by flags, just waiting for someone to get up there and drop some knowledge. At its core, the tiny space is a “meeting room,” yet on either side are racks stocked with merch.
This is the winter installation of “Los Anarquistas.” It’s a month-long collaborative pop-up between brand designer Symbol DTS and artist Ryan Keeley. The adjacent Frank’s Chop Shop is also involved in the endeavor. The concept space will remain open through the end of December.
In its previous life, this lower level of 17 Essex housed the tiny “DVD Station” electronics shop.
