Subway Scenes: A Candid Glimpse of 1987 [VIDEO]

We followed a rabbit hole of vintage videos recently, and came upon this one. It’s fifty soundless seconds of footage shot in the Times Square subway station of 1987. The focus is on a grimy, graffiti-sheathed IRT train and its straphangers. As the clip owner quips in the description, “None of the people on this train were going home to surf the web because it didn’t exist yet.”
Some things don’t change, though. Like not letting passengers off the train before boarding, or the older dude barely beating the closing doors.
Step in, stand clear.
