Hat Store Hand-Me-Down at Block Headwear on East Houston Closes for Good

Whatever vestige of Block Headwear that remained is finished. The tiny store at 89 East Houston closed again, for real this time.
Even though the initial shutter was roughly one year ago, the space stayed open as a discount outlet for discontinued accessory merch. Bins of hats, gloves, scarves, whathaveyou, attracted plenty of bargain hunters. The long-running joke was that the storefront boasted a “store closing, everything must go” sale during that entire period.
And now it’s all over for the hat store hand-me-down. The lights are off at 89 East Houston once again.
