Itzakaya Dodom Pa on Clinton Street Has a New Look

There’s no respite, it seems, from the curse of 71 Clinton Street. This address has experienced a string of foodie failures since the departure of 71 Clinton Fresh Foods in 2006 – Fat Hippo. Patate Fellow. Hachember.
This is the legacy that Izakaya Dodom Pa is up against. Just a few months after an electrical fire took out a chunk of the facade, the restaurant closed during most of December for renovations. However, the remodeled restaurant did reopen for service shortly following the New Year. Included in the facelift is a completely new look; “Itzakaya” is no longer part of the name and the orange marquee was painted black with different branding.
Meanwhile, the storefront remains on the open rental market, currently asking $9,700 per month (plus unspecified key money). What’s most interesting about this recently-updated listing is its selling point of T train access (aka Second Avenue Subway).
