It might be “JanuANY,” but the Subway outpost at 222 Lafayette won’t be slinging any Five-Dollar-Footlongs. This SoHo franchise recently went out after the better part of a decade in business. As a result, the storefront is now a skeleton of its former self, just waiting to be tagged to oblivion by the usual crew of graffiti writers.
222 Lafayette Street is now for rent, as evidence by the poster hanging in the window.
From our vantage point, Subway corporate seems to have scaled back local expansion efforts after that flurry of new openings in the neighborhood the last couple years. Now it’s a man down.
