The new Helmut Lang at 14 Prince St.

The new Helmut Lang store at 14 Prince Street is certainly on the fast track to completion. As we previously reported, the fashion brand is planning a spring 2014 opening for what will be its third city store (behind Mercer Street and the Upper West Side). However, the interior is already serviceable, with racks of clothes already in place. Looks like the launch might happen rather soon; possibly within a week or two.

Meanwhile, the facade is also undergoing its requisite metamorphosis. Contractors nailed in a new marquee, and already painted the red-brick with a grayish hue. Branding was also stenciled.

This block of Prince, between Elizabeth and the Bowery, has certianly upscaled in the last couple years. French sister-stores Sandro and Maje raised the bar upon their arrival in 2012. There’s no escape…

Helmut Lang replaces French handbag company Jamin Puech, which recently vacated this address.
