Last summer, CBS resurrected the Jim Gaffigan comedy pilot – Gaffigan – after sitting on the idea for a year and change. The network had previously passed on turning the script into a regular series. Not anymore; filming began around the Lower East Side in July. And it’ll continue today.
Signs are posted across Little Italy in preparation for today’s shoot.
The stand-up star (and Lower East Side resident) joined forces with Rescue Me co-creator Peter Tolan for the new television project.
Gaffigan is an autobiographical single-camera comedy focusing on a dude named Jim who lives with his wife and two kids in a small two-bedroom apartement in NYC. Actress Mira Sorvino was originally cast to play his wife Jeannie, but that role was switched to Ashley Williams. Adam Goldberg came aboard in December, and plays Jim’s best friend Dave Reedy, another stand-up who lives next door.
