Chop’t Opens Franchise on Spring Street in Little Italy

Little Italy just scored a taste of corporate lunching with the arrival of Chop’t. The antiseptic green eatery, usually popular in dense commercial areas like midtown, is now open at 54 Spring Street. It’s the thirteenth location for the “creative salad company” within the confines of Manhattan.
Before this franchise arrival, however, 54 Spring operated as Firefly Bar. The fratty watering hole shuttered in May 2013 after a controversial five-year run.
Neighbors are probably happier with this ground-level tenant, though. Many were not pleased with Firefly, which operated as a club, even though it was dubbed a “sports bar.” Its Yelp rating was 2.5 stars, and loaded with lengthy missives about how the place sucked.
