That Moroccan restaurant which replaced the corner bodega at 26 First Avenue is ready to rock n roll. The five-month build-out is now complete. Spiegel, a new ethnic eatery by Noah Shalem, soft opened last night for friends and family; the public at large can partake later this afternoon.
Menu is infused with elements of both Moroccan and Israeli cuisines. However, despite his previous announcement to the contrary, Spiegel will not in fact be a Kosher establishment. It’ll be more “Kosher style,” with no swine served on site nor any mixing of milk and meat.
Spiegel’s bid for a wine and beer license proved successful, as the State Liquor Authority approved the measure last month.
