With ‘Doner’ a Goner, ‘Essex Taqueria’ Looking to Serve at 123 Essex Street

Doner is a goner.
This time last year, the ethnic late night munchies spot at 123 Essex Street shuttered after a paltry two months in existence. The fancy ornamental rotisserie on the marquee stopped spinning, and the windows grew musty with time. Storefront psychics from upstairs gladly took over the ground-level space during the high-trafficked weekend nights, but otherwise, the address was derelict.
Now it seems a more permanent tenant is about to roll the dice. Something called Essex Taqueria is already underway. The colorful signage arrived in the last couple days, yet the interior is still a disaster area.
