Russ & Daughters neons on Allen Street marquee
Since it’s arguably the best neon sign around these parts, many in the neighborhood had been patiently awaiting the arrival of another Russ & Daughters sign to light up the Lower East Side. That moment arrived a couple days ago at 127 Orchard Street where the new sixty-five-seat cafe is slated to debut in the coming weeks.
At the moment, only the Allen Street marquee carries the signage. It’s quite similar to the original, boasting the token fish and historical claim of “appetizing since 1914.”
Also of note is the remodeled storefront that adds a bit of floor-to-ceiling glasswork to the equation.
