Late-night boozers in Hell Square might have one less grazing ground to soak up that stupor. It appears the Snack Dragon Taco Shack is not long for 164 Orchard Street. A tipster passes along this three-day-old real estate listing for the space, indicating the lease is for sale. News of its likely closure arrives two months shy of four years in business at this address. However, the restaurant remains open for the time being.

The posting, via Loopnet, touts the 400 square-foot space as a “Perfect location for a to-go business, coffee shop, wine bar or intimate lounge.” Wine bar or lounge might be stretching it. Like its name implies, that place is more cramped than a 6 train during rush hour. Current rent is $2,662.54, with one year remaining on the lease. A five-year renewal (with possible basement option) would bump the monthly cost to $3,019.27.

Snack Dragon got in some hot water last summer due to a snafu over workers compensation insurance. The DOH shuttered the joint, but it reopened a few days later. It’s survived by the OG spot on East Third Street, and a year-old outpost in Williamsburg.

164 Orchard Street previously housed a boutique called ZACC Fashions, which closed in January 2010.

Blockchain Company Anchors Sunshine Cinema Replacement Tower

The glassy office building that replaced the beloved Sunshine Cinema has its first tenant. And an anchor, at that. The arrival of San Francisco-based Solana Labs comes mere weeks after the sidewalk bridge outside 141 East Houston came down (thereby freeing Yonah Schimmel from bondage). Solana Labs, a blockchain company, reportedly signed a lease for […]
