Vintage PSA Urges Jaywalkers to ‘Cross at the Green, Not in Between’ [VIDEO]

The violent arrest of 84-year-old Kang Wong back in January has jaywalking back in the local spotlight. For this everyday occurrence, cops charged him with jaywalking, disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest. The incident transpired just as Mayor de Blasio announced intentions to crack down on the practice citywide. Gothamist noted that 452 jaywalking tickets were written in the first two months of 2014.
However, as reported yesterday, the NYPD decided to drop all charges.
So, with that in mind, let’s have a look at this vintage PSA dating back to 1968. Using several translations, it warns city folk to “cross at the green, not in between.” The short clip is hilarious.
