Móle on Allen Street Closed for Renovations Until Further Notice

The OG location of Móle on the Lower East Side has been gutted, and is closed until further notice. We happened upon 205 Allen Street yesterday afternoon to find the tiny restaurant in shambles. A sign on the door indicates that the restaurant is out of commission for “remodelations,” and beckons fans to hit up their other locations in Williamsburg, the West Village, and Upper East Side.
We were told that the space was simply “old” and no longer did the job for Móle. A sagging floor was cited as the main culprit.
As with any closures due to renovations, we are wary of completely believing the situation here. While end of summer was given as timetable for reopening, don’t be surprised if Móle does not return.
Nick Cervera and Lupe Elizalde of Taco Taco in Yorkville opened Móle in 2007. The brand is seemingly a success, having birthed three additional cantinas from Manhattan to the BK.
