If World Cup withdrawal has gotten the best of you, there’s plenty of upcoming soccer action happening in the city to get you through the dry spell.

Paulaner Brauhaus on the Bowery is holding an extended happy hour on August 1, to host the Bundesliga’s very own FC Bayern, following tonight’s match as part of their summer stateside tour. Holger Badstuber, who was on the mend all last season will be meeting and greeting fans, as well as Xherdan Shaqiri, who plans to stay at FC Hollywood, despite the dramatic chatter of a possible Liverpool transfer.

Rumor also has it that Franz Beckenbauer is traveling alongside the team; he played out the twilight of his career with the New York Cosmos, so we can only cross all possible appendages in hopes of at least bumping into him on the Lower East Side. Autographs will be signed from 5 to 6pm; the happy hour involves twofers and such, from 11:30 – 6pm.

If that’s not enough, the Street Soccer USA Championship Cup is happening in the middle of Times Square this Sunday, August 3. It’s a 4 v.4 format comprised of NYC’s finest street talent, but there will also be exhibition matches featuring the Street Soccer USA homeless men’s and women’s teams from East Harlem and Brownsville, as well as Street Soccer USA East New York Youth program.

Special guests who plan on showing up include the Chilean National Street Soccer Team, Canadian National Street Soccer Team as well as team entries from the NY Cosmos, NYCFC and the NY Redbulls.

And speaking of NYCFC, there has been a smattering of signings to the club in preparation for next season’s debut; David Villa, Jeb Brovsky, Andrew Jacobson, Josh Saunders, and Chelsea’s midfielder, Frank Lampard.

In the immortal words of Wayne Campbell… game on!
