Grilled Cheese Restaurant Opens at 188 Allen Street

That new grilled cheese restaurant-bar at 188 Allen Street is now open. Awnings have been unrolled and stools set at the various tables. Last identified as “Cheese Grille” by various Craigslist job listings, the manager inside said the business is still nameless, and informed us that the official christening should happen sometime next month. A rather uncharacteristic move…
The facade itself employs lighter tones to attract customers. There are few shadows or dark colors on premises. Patrons can sit on stools outside while drinking from a side bar. And, to that end, this Cheese Grille has a full selection of beer and wine. We don’t recall the applicant appearing before Community Board 3 for this license.

The menu includes various interpretations of the classic sandwich from the “Crispy Goat” to the “Garden Melt.” Price points are between $6 and $8.
