Hacking “Diner” for “Jef”
Down on the Bowery, imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Two upscale eateries near the intersection of East Houston offer the taste of France.
Earlier this week, Mathieu Palombino pulled the plug on his four-month Chez Jef pop-up experiment at the former Bowery Diner. It had been in rotation since March. However, he will return in September with a full-blown French bistro concept. Across the street from Keith McNally’s Cherche Midi.
Eater says that there will be a full menu with ten to twelve mains and a wine list of roughly fifty bottles. They’ll serve breakfast, lunch, and dinner.
But will it survive?
