Here’s a newcomer we didn’t quite expect on Allen Street. An honest-to-god Italian Delicatessen called “Roman’s.”

With little square-footage to its name, the store is pretty self-explanatory. You go in for a sandwich. Meats are housed in a glass case by the counter, baked bread sits in the window (with Colosseum emblazoned); shelves are stocked with other Italian specialty items.

Roman’s could be a decent sell for this block. There aren’t many options for quick deli sandwiches along this side of Allen Street. The closest is probably the Allen Street Deli closer to East Houston.

This particular retail carve-out at 157 Allen Street has been vacant for years.
