Filmmaker Kevin R. Frech is a 20+ year resident of the East Village. During the years between 1999 and 2004, he documented the radical change in composition of the Bowery. This was a time before everyone had a camera in their pocket; before hyperlocal blogs began scrutinizing the march of gentrification on the Lower East Side.
The fruits of his filming eventually morphed into a documentary entitled Bowery Dish, which airs tonight at 10pm on Channel 13.
The film debuted at the Tribeca Film Festival, and later appeared on the Sundance Channel.
Needless to say, there has been even more of a sea change on the Bowery in the decade since.
