Lucky Star Bus Moving to New Location on Canal Street

The DOT ruled two months ago to reject the Diaspora bus company’s application to operate inside the old Fung Wah depot at 139 Canal Street. Much of the issue centered on how a bus stop here would adversely affect the Mahayana Buddhist temple next door. Well, it seems there wasn’t much opposition from on high about the Boston-based Lucky Star and its relocation to 145 Canal. This commercial space was previously the Diamond Hill Cafe.
Signage went up within the last couple weeks, announcing a much larger space for the embattled, and oft-chastised bus operator. Renovations are happening as we speak. They are currently headquartered at 55 Chrystie.
Lucky Star was temporally shut down a year ago for sixty-nine violations on six coaches, including faulty brakes, windshield and emergency exit defects, and rotted floors. Also, buses broke down on the Boston route some eighty times between 2012 and 2013.
Service was reinstated in November 2013.
