Acoustic axe wielders, pay heed. Local stalwart Rivington Guitars is expanding its footprint on East Fourth Street. The popular music store opened an acoustic-only annex two doors down in what was previously Keshav Music Imports (67 East 4th). We are told the endeavor is aptly dubbed Rivington Guitars Unplugged.

“We were too crowded in our already expanded location where we had moved from Rivington Street,” owner Howie Statland says. “The folks who wanted to purchase acoustic guitars couldn’t really hear them when customers were playing electric guitars through amps.” After Keshav relocated to 24 Rutgers Street, Statland spent the intervening months renovating the space. The room will be temperature and humidity controlled.

Rivington Guitars Unplugged soft opened this week, but officially bows on September 1.

The OG Rivington Guitars opened at 125 Rivington in 1998, and spent ten years at this location. It moved to 73 East 4th Street in 2008.

No Stairway … denied.
