Rat Castle Condo on Ludlow Street Shows Off New Facade

It’s still hard to believe that the Rat Castle (aka 179 Ludlow Street) is finally debuting on the Lower East Side. The infamous seven-story development had been rotting away before our very eyes since 2006, but was resurrected around this time last year. Now the full slate of ironwork is coming down for the first time in nearly a decade. Could it be that upper will soon be without scaffolding?
We’re just curious to see whether those south-side fire escapes will become reality.
There are a total of six floor-through units available above the ground-level retail space, as previously reported. According to a recent report in the Real Deal, apartments on the second through fifth floors are 1,100 square-feet with balconies on both sides. Prices start at $1.65 million. The crown jewel, however, is the duplex penthouse with private roof deck.
Sales in the new condo building are expected to commence any day now under the tutelage of Elliman broker Ariel Tirosh. The vanity website teased directs to his splash page.
