It’s no real secret that contraband (and violence) arrives aboard incoming Chinatown buses. Local media has widely reported the influx of weapons and criminals into the Lower East Side. Remember that it was only a year ago that authorities conducted the largest gun raid in NYC history, seizing 254 weapons that came here via these bus routes.
Here is some additional visual evidence of the seemingly illicit activity surrounding the Chinatown bus industry.
Boogie reader JJ alerts us to “an illegal cigarette importation on Essex Street” that went down on Monday morning. The photos enclosed illustrate an alleged drop-off from an idling bus just outside Seward Park (which is not permitted). Apparently goods are transferred from the bus to the van, and then it’s off to points unknown. Oh, and the bus “pretended to be broken down.”
Have you seen this happen?
