After sitting vacant for some six months, renovations have reportedly begun inside 2 Clinton Street. You know, the Clinton Street Baking Company annex. And right on time, too. We reported back in June that construction would kickstart within three months, even while ownership denied. The enclosed photo shows workers busy inside the future pancake house extension, shot by Mike Brown.
As we first reported, the current space will be dedicated to takeout and coffee, with some limited seating options. Full sit-down service will jump over to 2 Clinton Street.

OP liquor license for the additional room is on the way. Community Board 3 approved the application back in July, despite its footing in a saturated area. Queue crowding remains a concern among the locals, but co-owner Neil Kleinberg promises that the larger dining space, coupled with bench sidewalk seating at the corner of Clinton and East Houston, will help alleviate the wait situation. We’ll see.
The corner store at 2 Clinton was previously occupied by longterm bodega, Min’s Market.
