Crime is coming to the Lower East Side today. As in the new HBO miniseries currently in production. Two different areas are selected for the shoot, including Hell Square and the streets beside the Manhattan Bridge entrance.
The eight-hour program – born as an unaired pilot starring the late James Gandolfini – is a New York story centered on ambulance-chasing attorney Jack Stone who represents a Pakistani accused of murdering a girl on the Upper West Side. Stone is portrayed by John Turturro, who replaces the role originally helmed by the Sopranos star. Crime was originally known as Criminal Justice, and is directed. Other stars include Michael K. Williams (The Wire, Boardwalk Empire), Amara Karan, Jeannie Berlin, and Glenne Headly.
