Fire-Scorched ‘Black Crescent’ Staging Fundraiser This Weekend to Help Reopen on Clinton Street

Facing massive adversity, Black Crescent is hell-bent on returning to its former glory at 76 Clinton Street. The seafood joint – on the block for exactly one year – succumbed to a basement blaze last Friday evening. Firefighters arrived and quickly extinguished the flames, but in doing so, pretty much sidelined the business.
Earlier this week saw the arrival of plywood boards for the shattered windows. Each of the three pieces is sheathed in well wishes that altogether resemble signatures on a cast after breaking a bone. Meanwhile, ownership announced yesterday that they’re hosting a fundraiser on Sunday to help with the costs of rebuilding. The event will be held at the Ward III whiskey bar in Tribeca (111 Reade Street).
