A year of construction, anticipation, and hype culminates next week when Pies ‘n’ Thighs is purported to unveil its new Lower East Side outpost. Calls to the OG Brooklyn restaurant confirm the opening date at 43 Canal Street as January 15. They’re “pretty sure” about this.

Pies ‘n’ Thighs probably would’ve debuted sooner, but Con Edison was the proverbial monkey wrench. It’s the same old story – gas hookup is still up in the air. Meanwhile, here is a quick glimpse of the interior as of this week. Apparently the new locale will have “more of a lunch counter vibe” than the headquarters, serving the usual biscuits and fried chicken.

News first broke of their arrival on the shores of Canal Street back in March 2014. The bid for this particular location – previously a Chinese photocopy center – followed quickly after the Egg Shop backed out (they subsequently settled on Elizabeth Street).

The State Liquor Authority lists the status of the Restaurant Wine license as pending. So, a soft-open without booze is definitely a possibility.
