Photo: Hester Street FairNow in its sixth iteration, the Hester Street Fair is welcoming the neighborhood back, with the promise of “New food! New vendors! New look! Same awesome vibe…” Once again, the corner of Hester and Essex Streets will corral local biz into a fancy farmer’s market, but it’s not setting up shop for the whole weekend. This season, it’ll return for Saturday operations only. Reason being to “to create a richer, more curated experience,” but our guess is it has something to do with neighborhood logistics. It’s not the first time they’ve truncated hours.
Opening day will comprise of an “International Food Fest” celebration, throwing over twenty unique cuisines from all over the world into the street eats mix. And while the fair usually draws some pretty heavy foot traffic, the powers-that-be have added more places to hang, eat-in and enjoy the sunshine for this season.
It all starts tomorrow, April 25 and runs through October 31, 11-6pm. Special events throughout the year, including evening activities will be announced in the coming weeks. Check out their event page to find out who’s vending what.
