Late night munchies options in Hell Square have just taken a turn for the sweet. Starting today, Insomnia Cookies will serve baked goods from 164 Orchard Street, previously home to Snack Dragon Taco Shack. The Lower East Side shop appears to allow over-the-counter walk-ins, but the company’s real bread and butter is the delivery service until 3am.
The cookie delivery chain opens this morning at 11am, according to employees scrambling to tie up the loose ends.
Insomnia Cookies was born in 2003 on the campus of the University of Pennsylvania. There are presently four downtown locations, but this is the first Lower East Side representation for the 12-year-old cookie company. As for Snack Dragon, their decade-plus tenure across the city came to an end earlier this year. At one point the mini-chain boasted three locations. All are now closed.
Avril Lavigne returned to SoHo this week to mark the twentieth anniversary of her pop-punk debut, Let Go. An ode to the album cover, twenty years older and not blurry, […]

The Department of Buildings issued permits for foundation work last […]

But to residents living in the bullseye, the aural assault remains a weekly nightmare. And this past Saturday night, by several accounts, upped […]
New York City public pools officially opened yesterday. For the Lower East Side, that means the Pitt Pool (aka Hamilton Fish) is ready to go. The launch happened with great fanfare. Parks Commissioner Sue Donoghue joined Manhattan Borough President Mark Levine, Assembly Member Harvey Epstein, Senator Brian Kavanagh, Council Member Carlina Rivera, and local kids […]
Belse, the Texas-based vegan brewery and restaurant, is now in business on the Bowery. The Lone Star State transplant – officially, Belse Plant Cuisine – takes 11,000 square-feet at 265-267 Bowery, in what was previously the fleeting home of the Paulaner Brauhaus brewery. The renovated space features three sections – a restaurant, bar, and Garden […]
