Boxy 10-Story Condo Tower to Rise at 165 Chrystie Street

Mum has been the word at 165 Chrystie Street ever since Master Kitchen Supplies relocated across the park to the 38 Delancey condoplex. When scaffolding arrived onsite at the end of last year, it was the first sign of certain change. In fact, a ten-story tumor is on its way to the mid-block parcel.
ODA-Architecture is working with DRK Chrystie LLC to redevelop the site, and just released renderings of what to expect here. Much like its sister property at 100 Norfolk Street, it’s another boxy stack of shit (without the cantilever). Plans filed with the Department of Buildings back in October reveal that the condo development will rise ten stories and boast nine (presumably full-floor) luxury residences. However, as of this week, the proposal is on hold due to a “disapproved” status.
Nevertheless, the demolition permits for 165 Chrystie – filed last December – remain active.
DRK Chrystie LLC acquired the site back in December 2013 for $8.4 million.
