Public is now public. Let the shadowcasting begin.
The new Ian Schrager condo-hotel development at 215 Chrystie Street makes good on the nascent teaser signage and is now peeking above its plywood threshold for the first time. Many months of earth moving and foundation pouring are now a thing of the past. Last month, the onsite prototype was dismantled to make way for the base of the superstructure, slated to rise a whopping twenty-eight stories. It currently sits at two stories.

As previously reported, the self-described “tough luxe” development – acquired by Schrager last year for $50 million – will boast eleven ultra-pricey condos atop the 370-room Public Hotel. Only three high-end apartments remain, including the $18.75 million penthouse. One of the current owners here is fashion photographer Mario Testino who purchased a 3-bedroom unit.
Darken the park it will.
