Os Gemeos completed another epic mural in the East Village over the weekend. The Brazilian artists – twin brothers – spent the end of last week on a boom lift painting one of their token characters on the southerly facade of 26 Second Avenue.
The art is no doubt hip-hop influenced. This dude looks like he’s pushing through the concrete wall while carrying an eighties-style boombox. A Brazilian take on the famed B-boys of yore.
The new mural will likely remain intact until the new ten-story development begins to rise next door. The project, designed by RSVP Studio, will boast 52,700 square-feet of residential space and 6,000 square-feet of retail. Amenities include a bike storage room (16 bicycles), tenant storage, a fitness room, and a second-floor “outdoor tenant recreation area.” It’s capped with a duplex penthouse with private roofdeck.
