During last night’s rush hour, a pickup truck in the southbound lane of the FDR collided with the exit divider at Grand Street. Near the span of the Williamsburg Bridge. No word yet on condition of either driver, but these photos are pretty gnarly.

The accident happened shortly after 7pm and was cleared less than an hour later, according to several police scanner bots. Traffic was still jammed well past midnight.

UPDATE: An eyewitness sends along the following dispatch…

This car crashed directly in front of me yesterday – It actually collided with the Exit divider nearly head on then got thrown a couple yards where you see it. Nearly crushing my car and a couple others. The driver was driving recklessly for a while behind me – I changed lanes he gunned it going at least 70 and seems like he lost control or tried to veer into another lane and crashed.
