‘LESpace’ Pop-Up Incubator at Los Perros Locos is Donezo

It was exactly a year ago that Alex Mitow pulled the plug on the short-lived Los Perros Locos at 201 Allen Street. In the wake of this Colombian hot dog joint, the former proprietor instead transformed the store into “LESpace” – a food-based incubator space for pop-ups, chefs, etc.
LESpace made the biggest splash with Polpo Gelato a few weeks ago, in which 17-year-old Harrison Geller slung his homemade frozen fare. However, this business would actually be the last such pop-up to grace 201 Allen Street. The dream is done. Ripco-branded leasing banner arrived in the window this week, acting as the proverbial tombstone.
The LESpace Facebook page, meanwhile, announced the end of the year-long project on Monday with the following message.
Hey y’all! From string parties to Holiday Hoo-Has to Polpo Gelato and Thai food pop-ups it’s been a fun year being your neighborhood LESpace but alas – the time has come and our fresh + egalitarian pop-up business model has outgrown these downtown digs. Today we bid you all farewell and look forward to seeing you at some of the fun events we’ll be producing throughout NYC, Miami, and beyond!
