Kapowski’s by Moscow 57 Goes Dark After Only 2 Months on Delancey Street

Kapowski’s went kapow last week. 168 Delancey Street is now dormant.
Owner Ellen Kaye had teamed up with Barramundi principal Tony Powe back in the summertime to reinvent the concept. They brought in chef Nikita Ponomarev to help with the “Russian and Central Asian small plate” menu.
The brief reinvention owed itself to the seven previous months without a gas hookup. This was to be the fix. However, the Kapowski’s venture was short-lived, having shuttered for good last week after barely two months at 168 Delancey. Flo Fab reported at the Times that the “financial stress” caught up with Kaye, and she was forced to bow out.
Apparently, she and “a new partner” are seeking to open in a new location. Whether the Kapowski’s/Moscow 57 moniker follows remains unknown.
