Cops last night released surveillance footage of the man suspected of raping a 26-year-old woman in East River Park Wednesday evening. The account of the crime is as follows, per the NYPD:

The victim was jogging in East River Park, in the vicinity of Cherry Street when the suspect, on a bicycle, approached her and motioned for her to be quiet. The victim turned around and started to run in the opposite direction when the suspect grabbed her hair, put his arm around her throat and pulled her into the amphitheater area where he raped her. The suspect fled the scene thereafter.

The perp allegedly used the victim’s credit card at a nearby bodega shortly after the attack, which was caught on camera.

Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS.
