Felix Tailor Shop Departs Rivington Street, Reopens at 125 Allen

Hell Square just lost a longtime tailor.
Until last week, the Felix Tailor Shop held down the shoebox real estate at 97 Rivington for more than ten years. Outlasting most of its neighbors during this period of accelerated change. However, it’s already given up the lucrative retail footprint at the southwest corner of Ludlow Street.
The handwritten sign affixed to its doors announced the sudden move to 125 Allen, beside the nascent Chili’s Indian Cuisine. As for a new location, it’s an apt choice, since this was previously home to Aridio Tailor.
The departure of Felix Tailor leaves its competition – Express Tailor Shop across the street – with a monopoly on such services within a couple blocks. Though, Pablo Vargas up at the Stanton Tailor Shop is still considered by many as the gold standard around here.
