It’s time to ring in the Year of the Monkey! The Lunar New Year is here, and with it, plenty of celebration swinging throughout lower Manhattan. This year marks the 17th annual Lunar New Year’s Parade and Firecracker Ceremony for Chinatown.
As in years prior, the festivities will commence with the Firecracker Ceremony, today at 11am at Sara D. Roosevelt Park (Grand Street between Chrystie and Forsyth Streets), and will wrap up with the parade on Sunday, February 14 at 1pm. Once again, cultural booths will be present to explore after both events.
Parade route is as follows (secure your spot early!):
Mott & Canal to Chatham Square to East Broadway towards the Manhattan Bridge, completing on Eldridge and Forsyth Streets towards Grand Street next to Sara D. Roosevelt Park.
