Popular Flushing export Xi’an Famous Foods is ever so close to opening on Kenmare Street. As previously reported, the (western) Chinese restaurant will open a closet-sized outpost in the former home of Asiadog. The window signage posted back in December was later joined by the official canopy.
Xi’an owner-operator Jason Wang tells us that the delay in opening is related to Con Edison and the gas hookup. Figures. They expect to launch later next week with a soft open to the public.
Here’s a look inside the establishment.

Meanwhile, Jason Wang, who initially helped his father grow the Xi’an business, just expanded sister eatery Biang! The family-style offshoot moved from Flushing to a new space at 157 Second Avenue (formerly Wylie Dufresne’s Alder) late last year.
The old Biang! location will become another Xi’an dispensary.
