Today we bring word that People Kitchen & Lounge is down for the count. It joins longtime neighbor Rayuela high in the sky.
The trendy Allen Street cocktail den faded from the scene last month after more than a dozen years on the block. Though its fate was not abundantly clear until recently. Namely, the gridwork of signs in the window announcing the following farewell message:

Also, the decorations from New Year’s Eve are still hanging.
People Lounge debuted at 163 Allen way back in 2003 before the hyper-gentrification of the area really took hold. The “Kitchen” aspect of the business didn’t happen until nine years later.
