El Luchador is a few days from debuting its new Lower East Side location. The grand opening celebration is set for Cinco de Mayo this Thursday.
The popular taqueria revealed the news in a Facebook post. “We will be giving out one free chicken taco per person at our new location,” the announcement notes. There is no liquor license of record, so the celebration will presumably be dry.
This is the second outpost for El Luchador (translated, “the fighter”), which has been renovating 132 Ludlow since last October. As previously reported, the wrestling-themed taqueria took the torch from the failed Pomme Creperie that went bust last September after two years in business.
El Luchador will continue to operate its beloved taco trailer on South Street. The 1960s-era Airstream has been parked there – a onetime horse stable – since November 2014.
