This latest dispatch should come as no surprise.

With vape culture reaching a saturation point, dedicated lounges and stores are popping up everywhere. However, the good times apparently didn’t carry through for the vape shop at 166 Orchard Street – VapeYa. The hangout – complete with bar-like setup – called it quits earlier this week after eight months in business. Smoked out, you might say.

Despite the apparent popularity of vaping, it still seems like a failing venture to open this type a smoke lounge. Tough to afford that kind of rent when selling vape paraphernalia and juices.

Unless you saw the Misrahi Realty tombstone signage in the windows, you would have no idea VapeYa is gone. There isn’t much in the way of updates on their website or social media pages.

Former music industry exec Jordy Trachtenberg opened VapeYa with partner Rich Masio in early October of 2015.
