Last weekend, in the blistering heat, Centre-fuge Public Art Project got the gang together for another round of artwork on East First Street. The decrepit mid-block trailer is now home to Cycle 21.
Participants this time around include Julia Cocuzza, Mike Kuhn, Damien Miksza, and a collaboration with UR New York, Col Wallnuts, and Kwue Molly.
The Department of Transportation mobile trailer was first placed directly in front of First Park five summers ago as a forward office in the rehab of East Houston and preparations for the Second Avenue subway. Its residence was initially set at three to five years, which upset the balance of the block. The goal of Centre-fuge is to beautify the blight.
