‘Roots of Fight’ Celebrates Legendary Athletes in New Allen Street Store

Apparently, pugilism is alive and well on the Lower East Side. Even if G&S Sporting Goods is gone.

Exactly two years after East Coast MMA debuted on Orchard Street, a likeminded shop just debuted directly on its backside (aka 130 Allen). Roots of Fight is now in the ring, described as a boutique celebrating the “improbable achievements of today’s most legendary athletes, innovators, and cultural icons.”

Roots of Fight took the one-story retail space heretofore occupied by landlord Samy Mahfar’s real estate arm, REAL New York. It’s the first such brick-and-mortar for the brand, and much like East Coast MMA, carries a huge homage to Mike Tyson in the windows.
