Bandit in Klondike Hat Knocks Off 2 Chase Bank in Chinatown
For the second time since Christmas, a Chase Bank on the Bowery has been knocked off. Police are looking for a man in a “Klondike hat” as lead suspect in both robberies, the latest of which transpired on Thursday.
The perp visited Chase Bank at 2 Bowery on Thursday at around 1:51pm, and slipped a note to the teller demanding cash. The suspect made off with $1,000 and fled, officials said.
Three weeks earlier, on December 28, the same crook hit the Chase Bank 180 Canal Street. That heist – also with a demand note – netted $3,000.
No one was reported hurt in either incident.
Police released a surveillance photo of the suspected thief, described as a thin man with a goatee, aged between 25 and 30 years old, standing between 5-foot-8 and 5-foot-11.
