‘Bite’ Begins Construction on its New Lafayette Street Lunch Counter
Bite is taking another.
Plans for a move down the block are now confirmed. One worker at the fifteen-year-old lunch counter noted that work is already underway on the updated space. That much is also clear by the arrival of this sidewalk shed at 333 Lafayette last week.
As previously reported, the revitalized Bite will offer slightly more room for the business and alleviate the less-than-stellar working conditions (i.e. cramped space, cold winters, hot summers).
Pinche Taqueria previously occupied this space from 2012 through its closure in 2015.
Owner Ami Melamed, a former fashion industry employee, left the business in 2002 to open Bite on Lafayette Street. This angled home was the first location, and in later years, would expand to the Union Square and Flatiron neighborhoods.
