‘Factory Tamal’ Finally Opens on Essex Street
The latest entrant to the budget eats enclave on Essex Street is here. Factory Tamal, which took over the lease from Cabalito Pupuseria at the end of December, finally made its debut this week.
The cubbyhole snack shop had been ready to go since mid-January, but was sidelined due to purported permit issues. All the while, a sandwich board promised the inevitable.
Open just a few days, Factory Tamale is already upping its advertising game. They’ve hired a barker to walk the neighborhood handing out menus and directing people to 13 Essex Street.
Here’s a photo of the menu board inside. Nothing in this here costs more than $8. Options include the namesake tamales, sandwiches (hot and cold), salads, and soups.
