An older Chinese woman was violently mugged on the doorstep of 22 Ludlow Street, police said. It’s the fourth such attack on Chinese women in the last week, and the same perp is suspected.

Sunday evening, the victim opened the front door to the apartment building (across from the Metrograph theater) when she was grabbed from behind. The perp covered her mouth to prevent screaming, then punched her several times in the face while demanding money. He snatched the woman’s purse and stole $550 before dropping the bag and fleeing northward on Ludlow Street.

The unidentified victim sustained injuries to her nose, jaw, and back of the head. She was treated at Bellevue Hospital, and reportedly released later that morning.

Police describe the perp as wearing a black, waist-length jacket and black knitted hat.
