Suspect Arrested in Connection with Wave of LES Muggings Against Chinese Women
The man who targeted Chinese women in a string of muggings was arrested on March 4, police said.
43-year-old Gilbert Mack remains in custody after an initial court appearance, during which bond was pegged at $50,000. He was brought in on burglary and assault charges in connection with four such incidents around the Lower East Side. The next court date is scheduled for tomorrow.
Mack attacked during the nighttime hours, demanded money, then punched victims in the face. The woman targeted outside 22 Ludlow was socked so hard, she was rushed to the hospital.
