It’s a match made in market heaven. A union of both Essex Street and Chelsea Markets.
Chelsea Local debuted this month in the 13,000 square-foot basement of the Chelsea Market. One of the vendors that took space in the new grocery area is Anne Saxelby, whose eponymous business remains headquartered on Essex Street.
Per the New York Times, “a broad new staircase in the center of the market leads to the 13,000-square-foot space, which offers ingredients like olive oil, fresh mushrooms and herbs, pasture-raised meat or a hunk of clothbound Cheddar to take home.”
The crosstown expansion further bolsters Saxelby Cheesemongers as a local force in dairy, eleven years years after opening at the Essex Street Market.
